Open the file beach.jpg: File, Open, beach.jpg. This action means that beach.jpg is the background and also defines the canvas size of the image. Save as .xcf: File, Save file as …, beach-lions.xcf Open the file in background layer: File, Open as a layer ... lion.jpg Leaves visible only the lion.jpg: has to be a single layer with an eye infront of the name           (atention: it must be the active layer, click on the name of the layer) Selection with intelligent Scissors , intro, to make selection. Copy and paste the selection: buttton rigth on the selection, Edit, Copy and after Paste. Convert the copy in a new layer: a dialogue layer, on floating layer, button rigth, new layer. Change the name of the layer by lion: double click on the name of the layer. Move the lion to another position: display background, move tools and joined. We go back to layer lion1.
